LEED AP: Training Is Important

LEED AP training prior to certification trains the professional on different aspects. It has been formulated into specialized training for different target streams like designing, maintenance, energy saving methods and administration. Each branch has its own specific training but all aims at improvement of existing conditions, which can ultimately lead to the bigger goal of community betterment. It is recommended for all professionals who want to be certified as LEED AP as extensive training infuses into them the minutest of details, which LEED exam focuses on.

There are three tiers in the LEED Professional Credentialing Program. They are Tier 1 – LEED Green Associate, Tier 2 – LEED AP with specialty, Tier 3 – LEED Fellow. The LEED AP credentialing are more focused on the detailed knowledge in green building practices. A candidate can specialize in a particular area of LEED rating system.

The examination is divided into two parts. The first is the LEED Green Associate Program and the second is a specialty exam based on one of the LEED reference Guides. These specialty courses narrow down and broader aspects of the green building concepts are discussed.

The specialties are LEED AP Building Design plus construction, LEED AP Homes, LEED AP Interior Design and Constructions, LEED AP Neighborhood Development, LEED AP Operations and Maintenance. The Neighborhood development program is the new amendment for the year 2010.
